Writer and columnist Mark McCormick spoke at Left On Read Bookstore in Wichita, KS Saturday September 19, 2026.

Speaking to an appreciative standing-room only crowd, McCormick spoke about his career, his life and read from his book of articles “Kansas Matters: America’s Social Faultlines.”

His talk referenced topics in the book from history, the covering-up of Black history, MAGA, people he has known and interacted with and working with editors.

As well as his coverage of 1995’s Million Man March and irritation over other media claims as to crowd size. (News reports claimed 400,00. Actual estimates were around 670,000 to over 1.1 million people.)

He had the rapt attention of the audience and took questions afterwards.
